Caleidoscópio
Porto, 2017
Studio @ University of Porto
I built "Kaleidoscope" as a playful filter through which I can see and experience the public space. One morning, I saw neighbors gathered around a car that had been broken into the night before. Looking at the broken window glass, they talked about how frequent that would happen in that street. I felt the need to address that event which made me feel unsafe. To build the kaleidoscope, I picked up shards from that car's window, but also from broken bottles and crockery all found on the floor of this street - signs of accidents, violence, depredention and abandonment.
